About the Louisiana OMV written test
The Louisiana knowledge test (often searched as the Louisiana permit test or Louisiana DMV test) checks that new drivers understand road signs, traffic laws and safe driving habits before getting a learner's permit. The questions come from the official Louisiana driver handbook published by the Louisiana Office of Motor Vehicles.
Louisiana applicants take a 40-question knowledge test and need 80% to pass, using the Louisiana Class D & E Driver's Guide from the Office of Motor Vehicles. Teens begin with a Temporary Instructional Permit at 14 and complete driver education before moving through the graduated licensing stages.
