About the South Dakota DPS written test
The South Dakota knowledge test (often searched as the South Dakota permit test or South Dakota DMV test) checks that new drivers understand road signs, traffic laws and safe driving habits before getting a learner's permit. The questions come from the official South Dakota driver handbook published by the South Dakota Department of Public Safety.
South Dakota applicants take a knowledge test on the state Driver License Manual and a vision test, and a passing score is 80%. Teens can start with an instruction permit at 14 and move through a restricted minor's permit.
