About the Rhode Island DMV written test
The Rhode Island knowledge test (often searched as the Rhode Island permit test) checks that new drivers understand road signs, traffic laws and safe driving habits before getting a learner's permit. The questions come from the official Rhode Island driver handbook published by the Rhode Island Division of Motor Vehicles.
Rhode Island applicants take a computerized knowledge exam at the DMV in Cranston, by reservation, based on the Rhode Island Driver's Manual. Applicants under 18 first complete a 33-hour certified driver education course and hold the permit at least six months.
