About the South Carolina DMV written test
The South Carolina knowledge test (often searched as the South Carolina permit test) checks that new drivers understand road signs, traffic laws and safe driving habits before getting a learner's permit. The questions come from the official South Carolina driver handbook published by the South Carolina Department of Motor Vehicles.
South Carolina applicants pass a vision screening and a knowledge test at an SCDMV branch to earn a beginner's permit, using the official South Carolina Driver's Manual. Teens must then hold the permit at least 180 days and complete supervised practice before a road test.
