About the Virginia DMV written test
The Virginia knowledge test (often searched as the Virginia permit test) checks that new drivers understand road signs, traffic laws and safe driving habits before getting a learner's permit. The questions come from the official Virginia driver handbook published by the Virginia Department of Motor Vehicles.
Virginia's learner's permit knowledge exam has two parts: 10 road sign questions, which you must all answer correctly, and 30 general knowledge questions, of which you need at least 24 correct. You also take a vision screening at the DMV when you apply.
